The conversation about climate change is an important one but is never going to be completely addressed unless we look at our energy needs and sources. That is why transitioning our energy economy is one of my key legislative platforms. Talking about the need to move away from fossil fuels like coal and transition to carbon free and carbon neutral energy sources is going to take real solutions. This need for solutions is why I have worked with leaders in the energy industry to put together an Energy Park proposal.
My Energy Park proposal would use existing open pit coal mines and repurpose the site for mostly electric power production and other infrastructure supply. The aim of redevelopment and reuse would provide:
Cleaner sources of power
Inexpensive energy to the consumer
Commerce and jobs for Colorado
We must move beyond talking about addressing energy needs and climate and put forth real, 21st Century solutions. My Energy Park plan is a strong solution for Colorado.
